Before I create content and add to this blog, I want to share with you all where my passion for Bollywood came from. So here's a little story time....

Ever since a young age, I was always taught Indian customs. I would sit in pujas (Indian prayer rituals) and get really excited about dressing in colorful clothes. My parents also taught me Hindi while I was still learning the English alphabet. I knew some words and letters but couldn't really understand much. When I was 7, my parents decided to move to India. My mom, sisters, and I left first and my dad was going to join us some months later.

Obviously as a young child, this move was a HUGE culture shock to me. India was bustling with people and noises and I honestly did not understand anything. My mom enrolled me into a private school that i was really excited about going to, however on the first day I got yelled at by a teacher for not understanding her and many kids followed and pointed at me in school for being an "outsider". They would say things in Hindi and I found it frustrating becauseI never knew what they were saying.

When I told my mom about this, she decided to teach me Hindi at a rapid pace. But in order to understand how to converse my mom would watch Bollywood movies with me. Each movie was so extravagant, with complicated storylines, passionate feelings, bright colors, and amazing songs and dances. I would binge watch movies and Hindi shows with my mom because they were so entertaining, and I was learning Hindi quickly.

After that, my love for Bollywood remained the same. To this day, I keep up with the latest trends, gossip, songs, and movies like it's my job. In fact, I've also developed a "cool" talent - naming the movie of any song, and also knowing almost all the lyrics to every Hindi song that possibly exists. As you can probably tell by now, my love for Bollywood is deep-rooted, and I cannot wait for you to join me as I follow Bollywood's journey through the pandemic.
